first things first (a very important legal bit)...

A celebrant-led wedding ceremony is not currently legally binding in England and Wales - it is a symbolic ceremony, not a legal one.

Couples choosing an independent celebrant usually complete their marriage registration in a brief statutory (or 'no frills') civil marriage ceremony via their local council registration service and, after they are legally married, they have their celebrant-led wedding ceremony (or 'wedding encore')

reserving your date...

Reserving your date is simple.  Just contact me to see if I'm available on your big day.  If so, we'll arrange a telephone call or meeting to chat through your initial ideas and you can decide whether or not to progress to a firm booking.

To secure your date, a non-refundable booking fee of £150 is required within 7 days of our telephone call/meeting (even if your ceremony is months away, I start working on it immediately).  The booking fee is deducted from your final balance.

paying the balance...

The agreed fee (less the booking fee) is payable by BACS six weeks before your ceremony date.  When the balance has been paid, I will send you a final copy of your ceremony script.

my fees (the financial bit)...

Standard Ceremonies

The standard fee for fully personalised wedding ceremonies taking place Monday - Saturday in 2024 and 2025 is £600 (Sundays and Bank Holidays £700).

The standard wedding ceremony fee includes:

  1. Initial telephone consultation/meeting
  2. Review of two questionnaires completed by the couple
  3. Planning meeting to discuss ceremony requirements (face-to-face or video call)
  4. Draft ceremony outline and script (and review/respond to your feedback)
  5. Finalise ceremony outline and script, and other ceremony documents
  6. Ongoing contact and support
  7. Delivery of the ceremony according to the script and outline
  8. Liaison with venue staff, photographers, musicians, etc. on the day of the ceremony
  9. Presentation copy of your ceremony script

Note:  Average ceremony duration:  20 - 30 minutes

"Short and Sweet" Ceremonies

I also offer “Short and Sweet” wedding ceremonies (15 - 20 mins), with much less personalisation and including a complimentary Keepsake Certificate Signing for £300 (Mon-Sat) or £350 (Sun and Bank Holidays).  I recognise that not all couples want all the bells and whistles of a fully personalised ceremony and so I offer an 'off-the-shelf plus' option - while some of the ceremony is standardised (e.g. the bridal party entrance; opening and closing words; the exchange of rings; etc.), I will gather some information from you so that I can include a few personalised points which maybe around your hobbies or past-times;  future plans;  promises that you want to make to each other;  etc.  So you get a slight personal touch but without the full-on cost.

The Short and Sweet Ceremony fee includes:

  1. Initial telephone consultation/meeting
  2. Review of two questionnaires completed by the couple
  3. Draft ceremony outline and script (and review/respond to your feedback)
  4. Finalise ceremony outline and script
  5. Ongoing contact and support
  6. A one hour meeting to confirm ceremony requirements (face-to-face or video call)
  7. Delivery of the ceremony according to the script and outline
  8. Liaison with venue staff, photographers, musicians, etc. on the day of the ceremony
  9. PDF of your ceremony script

Ceremony Script Writing Fee for ceremonies written in 2024/2025 is £400 and includes all of the above except points 6 and 7 (i.e. I do not deliver the ceremony or liaise with those working at it).  This includes a one hour coaching session with the person who will conduct your ceremony on the day, guidance notes for both you and them, and pdf files of all the documents needed for your ceremony.  If print copies of all documents are required, the total cost will be £450.

Ceremony Options

There are additional fees for extra ceremony options (such as a ceremony rehearsal; handfasting ritual or unity candle ceremony).  These will be discussed with you at the time of booking.

Travel

There is no charge for travel within 25 miles of CW2.  Outside this area, mileage is charged at the HMRC rate of 45p/mile.

cancellation policy...

If you cancel your booking, the following proportion of the remaining fee will be payable, depending on how much notice you give before your ceremony date:

within one month:        100%

within two months:       75%

within three months:    50%

If, due to unforeseen circumstances, I am unable to conduct your ceremony on the day, I will provide a suitably qualified substitute celebrant from an established professional network who will use the ceremony script and ceremony format that I have created for you.

delays on the day...

Delays can happen for lots of reasons.  I understand this and am flexible enough to accommodate minor hold-ups.  However, on the day, if the ceremony starts more than 30 minutes later than the time agreed, a charge of £50 will be made for every hour or part hour after the agreed ceremony start time.
